The Invisible Women

Helen P S

I'm referring about the female community that is unnoticed. What I meant by invisible was that we couldn’t see anything.

We can see those women, but we continue to act as if we don’t. They are here with us, our own mothers and sisters. They play multiple roles but are not allowed to speak. They are unable to express themselves in this society. Yes, they still exist in our society. They live within the four walls erected by a male-dominated society. They are frightened to speak up. They reside with us and are spread among many families. Thus, through my work, I am raising my voice for this invisible community.

In this work, I use Gothambumav to cover my face, including my lips. I selected Gothambumav because it is a substance that they work with in the kitchen. Like Gothambumav satisfies other’s appetite,  they do silently for others.
